Let’s face it – high school is stressful, especially when standardized tests are coming up. When stress runs high, it’s common for students to get into a bad mood and sometimes snap, even on their friends. Don’t panic, Green Dotters! We’re going to share some tips on how to prepare for test day and how to keep the heat down leading up to it.
Check in. If you know someone who seems like they’re really stressing out, check in with them and see if they need anything. Sometimes just saying, “hey, are you good?” makes a huge difference.
Take some time for self care! It’s awesome to look out for your friends, but you need to take care of yourself too. If you’re feeling the pressure, take time to do something for you! It doesn’t have to be big – seriously, you can take 15 minutes to scroll your Insta feed if that’s what you need. You deserve it!
Get enough sleep. This is so important. You’ll be able to focus better and feel more energized for tests if you get enough sleep the night before. Don’t be doing any of that all-nighter studying! Sleeping well will help your mood and will lower your stress too, and your friends will thank you for it.
Do your Green Dots. Test time is stressful for everyone, and it isn’t cool for anyone to take their stress out on others. If you notice a situation heating up, use the three Ds (direct, delegate and distract) to help you calm it down.
Everyone take a deep breath and know that we’re gonna get through this together. You’re all gonna do great. Good luck!
