Statistics from the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence show 1 in 12 women have been stalked in their lifetime and 1 in 6, have been sexually assaulted.
Those numbers have women like, Tiona Cage taking a stand.
Cage says she’ll never forget the day she realized she needed to learn to defend herself.
“I was at a grocery story. I was just getting food for the week and I was in the parking lot and somebody came over and they were very persistent and would not leave me alone,” Cage told Eyewitness News.
She was able to get away but knew she never wanted feel that helpless again so she enrolled in Tallahassee Police Department’s RAD class, a self defense class for women.
