Local musicians raise money to end domestic violence
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) – A local musical ensemble, the Young Peiskee Duo, is partnering with the Refuge House and raising money to stop domestic violence.
“Music has that special feeling of hope and a future and joy. So it seemed like such a great match to be apart of our mission and to bring that joy to the people we serve,” said Meg Baldwin, Refuge House Executive Director.
Melodies filled the room at Christ Presbyterian Church Sunday, all to empower women and raise awareness about domestic violence.
This all started when Peiskee Duo member Sarah Jane Young worked for Refuge House at a benefit concert and learned about the organization’s services and dedication to ending domestic violence.
Young was inspired and pulled colleagues, churches and others together to help domestic violence victims.
“We can be apart of the change. This is bigger than just us and I guess just having more information and being apart of the community, being part of something bigger than just the individual,” said Young.
