Each year, we have families in our shelter fill out a ‘wish list’ for the holidays. This list includes their ages, genders, clothing and shoe sizes, along with three gift requests and special interests and hobbies.
Donors can adopt a family of any size, whether it’s a single woman, a mom and child(ren), or multiple families. Help us make the holidays special for everyone this season by adopting a family or buying some items from our wish list below.
HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Call 850-922-6062 ext. 1011 (Michelle Frier), 843-986-7160 (Michelle’s Cell) or email mfrier@refugehouse.com to let us know that you would like to adopt a family and how many individuals you would like to sponsor. We will send you a detailed wish list for each person in the family. We will have collected wish lists from our families and have them ready for sponsors by November 15.
Go shopping! We do want our children’s wishes to come true and ask sponsors to do their best to provide the requested gifts, and if you are able, grocery store gift cards so families can prepare a nice holiday meal. We do not accept used items.
Once you have purchased your gifts they can be dropped off (unwrapped) at our administrative building located at 1637 Metropolitan Blvd., Ste. 1B, Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Please don’t leave gifts outside. Each gift should be labeled with the family ID and recipient’s name. It’s the only way we can make sure that the right gift gets to the right family. To make sure that we don’t lose gift cards, please place them in an envelope and label them with the family ID and name.

Other Ways To Get Involved:
- Host a drive at your place of business, church or other organization for toys, non-perishable food items, grocery or gas gift cards
- Contribute unwrapped new toys or gift cards
- Volunteer the week of December 19th to help wrap gifts at our Administrative Office
- Ask your business to sponsor a meal from Publix or a local restaurant for the shelter residents during the holidays
