Refuge House has 2 emergency shelters. One shelter is located in Leon County, and the other in Taylor County. Our shelters offer a safe place for adults and families at risk of violence—by domestic violence, sexual assault, or prostitution--who have no other safe housing option. For the safety and security of those at Refuge House, the location of the shelters is confidential.
While in shelter, residents are provided with emergency foods, linens, clothing, and other needed personal and household items. Residents are invited to participate in counseling and support groups. Service managers are here to help you meet your goals for housing, jobs, family support, and other “next steps” you have in mind. Special activities are designed to help children begin the process of recovering from violence. We plan on a 45 day stay for shelter residents.
We believe in you. You are in charge of your decisions, and all services are voluntary.
